Shyama Prasad Mukherji College is a well known women's college of University of Delhi. It was established by Delhi Administration in 1969 in the memory of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji, a great patriot, educationist, statesman, parliamentarian, humanitarian and a campaigner for national unity and integrity. He became the youngest Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University in 1934. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji always held education and its cause close to his heart. The college has a spacious building in Punjabi Bagh situated amidst sprawling lawns and play grounds, Our college endeavours to guide and prepare young girls to face the challenges of the modern world. The college offers B.A. Programme and Honours degree at the Bachelors level in Humanties and Commerce and Professional Course like B.EI.Ed., B.Ed, and B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science. We have three departments i.e. Hindi, Sanskrit and Political Science which enrol students at masters level. It is a matter of great honour and gratification that over the years students from our college have been getting First, Second and Third positions in the University Examination, as a result of their own dedication and teachers hard work. Vasundra of M.A. Skt. Pt. I stood first in the university. Sneha Agarwal of Applied Psy. (H) Ilnd Yr. stood second in the university. Neelam Sharma of B.EI.Ed. IVth Yr. got second rank in the university. Nisha of B.EI.Ed Illrd Yr. stood second in the university. Lalitha of Applied PSY.(H) Ilnd Yr. stood third in the university. Rudhi Gupta of Maths (H) 1st Yr. got third rank in the university. All these students brought laurels to the college. All the Departments regularly organise seminars, workshops, talks etc. in their related subjects. N.C.C., N.S.S. and other co-curricular activities are taken up very seriously in our college for the all round development of the students. We make all efforts to shape outstanding careers for our students in various fields. We hope the students will find their stay in the college most enjoyable and fruitful.
