DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

Department of Computer Science : The Computer Science department was started in the college in 1998. Initially BIT (Bachelor of Information Technology) and BA (Pass) with Computer Applications courses were   introduced and now B.Sc. (H)  Computer Science has also been introduced in year 2003. An Association named "SPM Info-Inquisitive"  has been started for the students of Computer Science.  
Department of Commerce : The commerce department was started in the college in 1977. On the Silver Jubliee year of the department it organised a Career Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Institute of Company Secertaries of India on 27th August 2002. The Commerce Association also organised COSTATS DAY on 21st Feb. 2003. A talk on "Career in Cost and Management Accountancy Profession" by A.P. Kar, Director of Technical Education of ICWAI was delieverd.
Department of Mathematics : The Department celebrated "Mathematics Day" .It Included useful presentation by Dr.L.M.Saha, an eminent Mathemetician on "Computer Programming using Mathematics".Dr. Saha gifted this software to college which costs nearly one lakh rupees in international market.A seminar by Dr.S.C.Arora ,renowned Mathematician from Delhi University.
Department of History : History Department organized a trip to National Museum and other Historical    monuments of Delhi to make students aware of true vision of art,architecture and rich cultural heritage of India.Lecturers and students also participated in a seminar "An interface with early Medieval and Modern Socio-Economic Changing  Pattern" held at Miranda house.
Department of Philosophy : A talk "Is it possible to be moral without being religious?" was delivered by Prof. V.P.Verma former Head of the Department of Philosophy.An educational tour was also organized to varoius places.
Department of Political Science : Political Science Department organized an essay competition on the subjects-"Modern Political System of India" and Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the 20th century".It also organized a talk by an eminent scholar Dr.Sudhir Pachauri on the subject-"Rethinking Globalization".
Department of Economics : A talk was organized in which Dr. Chadha-an eminent horticulturist delivered a thought provoking lecture on the subject-"Agricultural Scenerio".An Educational trip was also organized to "Lotus Herbal Factory"at Noida where students were apprised of the practical production processes.
Department of Food Technology : The students of Food Technology department participated at world food celebrations at shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women,Vivek Vihar.The girls participated in different inter-college competitions and won 2nd prize in the Appetizing Design-Rangoli Competition.
Department of Education : Education department organised Mathematics Exhibition in the college and Guru Nanak Public School, Adarsh Nagar. Students displayed working Mathematics models.
Department of Music : An eminent musician Sarod- vadak Sh. Vishwajit Rai Chaudhary was invited to the Annual Function of "Sangeetika"& he performed inspiring demonstration.
Department of English : The study circle organised a lecture on Amitav Ghosh "The Shadow Line" by eminent scholar, Novy Kapadia. It also organised lectures by Prof. N.D. Mirajkar and Dr. L.N. Mirajkar from the department of Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies, University of Delhi.
Department of Sanskrit : The association conducted an  inter college "Sanskrit Kavyali" competition in college in association with Delhi Sanskrit Academy and our college won the third prize.
