Shyama Prasad Mukherji College, named after a great and eminent educationalist, freedom fighter and a parliamentarian, endeavours to guide and prepare the young in the right direction. Syama Prasad Mukherji College was established in 1969.The college has the history of providing the best of interaction between the teachers and students. The non-teaching staff here known for their helpful attitude towards all. Besides excellence in academics, we have an established tradition of continuous achievement in the field of sports, NCC, NSS and cultural activities. At present we have 110 qualified and competent teachers and 2200 students. We have made a special mark in the field of academics, commerce, computers and teachers training to undergraduate students

The college has been selected by UGC for COHSSIP on the basis of its performance. Under this scheme, we intend to bring innovative programmes to supplement the existing teaching curriculum and give additional input by various methods for the benefit of students and their bright academic career. The college is working to achieve a new personalized system of guidance and monitoring of all students.

The college provides the entire infrastructure necessary for harmonious development of the personality of the students. It has well equipped library, arrangement for various sports activities, Computers, Vocational Courses women Guidance cell, Dramatics, Debates, Eco-Club, Gandhi an -Studies Circle etc.

The college wishes to achieve a beautiful blend the best in tradition and modernity between material and spiritual values. Our efforts are to weave these ideas in the personality of young girls thus enriching their womanly grace and qualities to face the challenging roles enables them to steer the society in the right direction.
