Manual 1:
Particulars of organisation, functions and duties
Shyama Prasad Mukherji College is a well known women's
college of University of Delhi. It was established by Delhi Administration
in 1969 in the memory of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji, a great patriot,
educationist, statesman, parliamentarian, humanitarian and a campaigner for
national unity and integrity. He became the youngest Vice Chancellor of
Calcutta University in 1934. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji always held
education and its cause close to his heart.
The college has a spacious building in Punjabi Bagh situated amidst
sprawling lawns and play grounds, Our college endeavours to guide and
prepare young girls to face the challenges of the modern world. The college
offers B.A. Programme and Honours degree at the Bachelors level in
Humanities and Commerce and Professional Course like B.EI.Ed., B.Ed, and
B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science. We have three departments i.e. Hindi,
Sanskrit and Political Science which enroll students at masters level.

Public
involvement in the affairs of the college is through nomination of people
from various walks of public life on its Governing Body as per provisions of
statute 30(1)(c)(i) of Delhi University Act, 1922.Management of the various
activities of the college is supervised by the Principal through designated
committees. Monitoring of the affairs of the college is through its
Governing Body, Academic Council & Executive Council of the University of
Delhi.
Library and Reading Room:
The college maintains a double
storey library in a separate wing for the college students. The Library
remains opens throughout the year from 8.30 a.m. To 5.30 p.m. expects on
Saturdays and Sundays. It has collection of about 61,619 books on various
subjects and 95 periodicals. Our college Library is fully automated.
Facilities for access to internet have been provided for students and
faculty members to support academic activities. There is a facility of
Book-Bank for economically weaker students .
College Auditorium:
The
spacious Auditorium is fully air-conditioned with all state of Art
facilities. It has a seating capacity of approx. 1200 students.
College Seminar Hall:
The college hall is the venue
for multifarious activities throughout the year.
Medical Room:
The
college maintains an adequately equipped Medical room. A well qualified
part-time physician and nurse attends to the needs of the students in the
college.
College Canteen:
The
college provides a comfortable canteen for the students. Outsiders are not
permitted in the college canteen.
Family
Counseling Centre:
The
centre provides counseling referral and rehabilitative services to those who
are facing problems like maladjustments, atrocities or social ostracism.
College Magazine:
The
college Magazine ‘SHYAMA’ is published every year. Students are encouraged
to contribute in its three sections Hindi, English and Sanskrit.
NCC:
N.C.C. of the college has
distinguished itself in the 7Bn. (N.C.C.) . In three years of training a
cadet can attend different type of camps. After attending the camp a cadet
appear for ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate examination.
NSS:
NSS team
of the college has excellent in the area of social services. The NSS also
runs adult education class and provide social guidance to the illiterates.
Vocational and Talent Development Centre :
To make
the prevalent system more meaningful the College has introduced a few short
term professional and semi-professional courses in the following areas.

Bank:
The
college has banking facilities on its premises. A branch of Indian Overseas
Bank operates in the college.
Students Common Room:
The
College has a spacious common room facility for students where they can sit
, relax and chat during their free period.
Study
Centre’s:
UGC has established various
studies centres under the programme EPOCH making philosophers of India. This
is to inculcate high values among the students, workers and the community.
The various studies centres of the college are Buddhist Studies Centre, Guru
Nanak Studies Centre and Gandhian Studies Centre. They have organized talks
from time to time. These centre’s conduct certificate courses.

Manual 2:
Powers
and duties of officers and employees.
Principal is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the college. She is
responsible for appropriate administration and organisation, of teaching and
extra-curricular activities in the college. The powers and duties of the
Governing Body and other authorities as per Statute 30 and Ordinance XVIII
of the University of Delhi are specified in Governance of Colleges,
University of Delhi.
Manual 3:
Procedure
followed in decision-making process.
Decisions in matters of organising admissions, sports, extra-curricular
activities, preparation of college time table, allocation of
extra-curricular work of teachers not involving payment of remuneration and
laying guidelines for purchase of Library books and lab. equipment are taken
by the Staff Council, subject to the provisions of the Act, Statutes and
Ordinances of the University. The decisions regarding institution,
suspension or abolition of teaching and non-teaching posts is taken by the
Governing Body. The college functions under the general supervision and
control of the Governing Body.

Norms
and standards for various academic activities of the college are set by the
competent authority such as the Academic Council and Executive Council of
the University and by Staff Council and Governing Body of the College.

Particulars of any arrangement that
exists for consultation with or representation by the members of the public
in relation to the formulation of its policy of implementation.
The
College Governing Body which directly supervises the affairs of the college
has ten members who are eminent personalities of the society and
representatives of the public. Besides the college holds public interaction
programmes and open sessions at the time of admissions.

The monthly remuneration
received by each of the officers and employees, including the system of
compensation as provided in the regulations.
The pay
scales of various teaching and non-teaching staff are as prescribed by the
University Grants Commission and adopted by the University.

Particulars of recipients of concessions, permits or authorizations granted.
Various concessions that are available to various categories of students in
admission to various courses are given in the bulletin of information.
Scheduled Castes /
Scheduled Tribes / OBC
22.5% (15% SC and 7.5% for ST interchangeable if
necessary) of the seats in all the courses are reserved for candidates
belonging to Scheduled Castes/Tribes. An increase of 27% in the intake of
OBC in the year 2009 will be implemented as per university guidelines.
War Widows
5% of the seats of each course are reserved for
the children/widows/wives of the officers and men of the Armed Forces
including Para-military personnel killed/disabled in action or those who
died/were disabled while on duty. They are required to get their names
registered with the University Office.
Physically Challenged
3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged
Candidates for admission to undergraduate courses.
Foreign Students
Admission of Foreign Students is handled by the
Foreign Students Advisor of the University of Delhi. No foreign student is
admitted to the college unless she produces a letter from the Foreign
Students Advisor, University of Delhi regarding her eligibility and
clearance for her holding a student's visa.

Manual 17:
Other information as may
be prescribed.
The person seeking information may apply on a plain paper giving
particulars of information being sought and his correct address for
communication. Separate application for seeking information on
different subjects is required. The application has to be accompanied
with the prescribed fee. (At present a fee of Rs. 10/-). The fee is
payable with each application which is towards the cost of processing
the request.
Schedule of fee can be had from the Public Information Officer of the
college. For the time being the rates are as under .
